Wedgel Aerogel Insulation
Blanket | Sheet | Pads | Board | Paint | Coatings
WedGel Aerogel is a highly effective material for home insulation due to its exceptional thermal insulation properties. It can be used in various forms, such as WedGel Aerogel blankets, panels, or coatings, to provide insulation in residential buildings.
One of WedGel Aerogel's primary characteristics that makes it a superior insulator is its incredibly low heat conductivity, which is well known.
What is Aerogel Insulation?
The liquid component of a gel is extracted through supercritical drying to create aerogels. This prevents the solid matrix in the gel from collapsing due to capillary action, which would occur with traditional evaporation, and permits the liquid to be gradually removed.
Because of its exceptional thermal insulating qualities and incredibly low density, aerogel is a special kind of material. It is frequently referred to as "solid air" or "frozen smoke" because of its light weight and translucent appearance.

WedGel Silica Aerogel Insulation
One of the most widely used and prevalent forms of aerogel is silica aerogel. Nowadays, silica gel or a modified method is used to commercially produce silica aerogel. About 3% of the volume of silica aerogel is made up of silica, which solidifies into the three-dimensional structure when exposed to an open environment.Air in minuscule nanoporous particles makes up the remaining 97% of the volume. As a result, conduction through the silica aerogel is quite low because there is only 3% solid content.
Silica aerogels have a low refractive index and a high optical transmission of almost 99%.
Silica Aerogel has :
- low density
- low thermal conductivity
- low sound speed
- low refractive index
- High transparency
Used For
- Super-capacitors
- Water deionisers
- Sensors for gas detection
- Pollution filters
- Dielectric integrated circuits
- Absorbents, catalysis
